Once the grooves are cut, you peel the paper back from one section at a time, use that scrap as a template to cut your fabric, press the piece onto the exposed adhesive, and tuck the edges down into the grooves. The picture fills in one shape at a time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe jar is the pale piece in the middle, and the fireflies are a strand of battery-powered LED string lights that glow through it once it's finished. Lights off, it's a quiet grey-and-gold patchwork with a jar on it. Lights on, it's a summer night. The background is dark fabric speckled with gold, pieced in triangles that radiate out from the jar, and there's one small firefly loose in the corner who didn't make it in.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lights come last, with one exception: before you tuck anything, pull the strand through the foam board and through the back of the frame, so it's already where it needs to be. It will be a little in the way while you build. Once the flat part of the design is done, lay the lights in a loose, organic blob over the jar, lay the included sheer fabric over the top, and tuck the sheer all the way around the jar shape so the lights are held underneath. The battery pack sticks to the back with the velcro and has the on-off switch. Battery included.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eInside the box:\u003c\/strong\u003e the printed board, a small craft knife for the grooves, fabric swatches for every section of the design and then some, the strand of LED string lights with its battery pack and velcro, a piece of sheer fabric for over the jar, a seam ripper for tucking (used flat back down, which is the best tool we've found for it), a shadowbox the finished piece pushes into, and a card with the steps on it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAbout the fabric:\u003c\/strong\u003e yours will be close to what's pictured, and the colors will be very close, but the exact prints and the mix change with what we can keep in stock, so the photo is the idea rather than a promise. We pack extra swatches so you can make it your own, and no two kits come out quite the same.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou'll need scissors. That's the one thing we didn't put in the box, since you already own a pair. A pen is handy too if you'd rather trace a template than cut around it. The craft knife is sharp, so if kids are at the table the cutting is the grown-up's step.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNo needles, no glue. It's an afternoon at the kitchen table, give or take, and it hangs on a wall or sits on a shelf when you're done.
